10:50 - 11:00
Fundamental Stage: Opening Remarks
11:00 - 11:30
Fundamental Stage: Key Pillars of Mass Adoption of NFTs

Our goal at Unique is to achieve mass adoption through three pillars:

Ensuring user-friendliness by making NFTs and unique digital assets accessible to everyone, without requiring any prior crypto knowledge.
Providing a reliable infrastructure that enables brands and enterprises to easily integrate advanced NFT pallets into their applications, using JavaScript SDKs.
Encouraging interoperability through EVM, which will foster open ecosystems, including the incorporation of Ethereum-based NFTs into the Polkadot ecosystem. Our priority and work in progress is facilitating NFT transfers via XCM.

16:35 - 17:05
Fundamental Stage: Mastering Cross-Chain Bridges

Mastering Cross-Chain Bridges
8 years ago the infamous “Bitcoin sidechains” paper laid out how trustless bridges are possible. Today, 99.9% of all bridges assets rely on centralized services. Surging demand has driven millions in VC money into the sector, funding dozens of competing protocols that compete in masking the same centralized technology behind crypto buzzwords and promising “paths to decentralization”. Threshold signatures, MPC, trusted hardware, optimistic bridges, ZK-proofs… yet behind the curtains: trusted multisigs. The recent announcement that the Altair Ethereum light client being is not secure and unusable for decentralized bridges sent an earthquake through the cross-chain industry. The already ongoing cold war for dominance among cross-chain bridges is becoming hot (see LayerZero <> Nomad attacks).

This talk cuts through buzzwords and explains why “cross-chain” is a hard problem, overviews the risks of using bridges ELI5-style, and provides an update on current landscape. Finally, we touch upon the long-awaited arrival of truly decentralized bridges – and why the holy grail may never be found.

16:35 - 17:05
Community & Business Development Stage: The state of Polkadot ecosystem in 2023

This talk will summarize all the events, new developments and highlights of the past year. In the second part of the talk, we will also have a look at all the interesting stuff that is bound to happen within a next few months and why it puts Polkadot to a great position in the market.

Day #2

10:00
Registration and Welcome
11:00 - 11:30
Fundamental Stage: How Chainflip will unlock new levels of Liquidity in the Polkadot Ecosystem

Since the dawn of L1’s, crypto has been faced with one huge issue, which causes fragmented liquidity, barriers to entry and slows the growth of new blockchains. There is a lack of interoperability, and currently DeFi users have no good way to jump from one ecosystem to another, and are forced to use insecure and complex bridges and/or go through centralised entities. Interoperability isn’t just dead, it hasn’t even been born yet.

Chainflip will allow for native cross-chain swaps on our decentralised protocol at price parity to central exchanges. Yes. You read that correctly.

When we launch, users will be able to swap their Bitcoin into Ethereum or DOT, without bridging, wrapping or any other outdated options. And one of our first orders of business, is working with the top Polkadot ecosystem projects to integrate the Chainflip protocol with their products.

This will bring unprecedented levels of liquidity to the ecosystem, benefit users who will be able to move cross-chain seamlessly, and bring a new level of interoperability to the biggest blockchains.

We look forward to sharing how this will work in practice, as well as the extensive list of benefits it will give to the Polkadot ecosystem.
